Oh dear where has time gone! So much for our weekly updates. Has it really been over 1 month since our last post?? We didn't even get our 17 week pictures in on Saturday! Going to try today. So many exciting "firsts" in Max's life this last month:
-First election! We walked to the Hopkins Fire Station - it was a beautiful day and we didn't have to wait long. We met a woman whose grandson was born on Aug 1! She loved talking to Max.
-Nov 7 First ECFE class through the Hopkins school district. Max enjoys the songs and staring at the other babies!
-First trip to Rochester and birthday party - we celebrated cousin Kate's 4th birthday and got to hang out with cousin Luke too!
-Rolled over from back to tummy on Nov 14 (at ~15 weeks old!) He continues to try and has done it about 3-4 times since, including a very special performance over Thanksgiving for Grandma Dee Dee, Grandpa Wade and Aunt Jessi. He gets mad once he's on his tummy and doesn't quite remember that he knows how to push onto his back.
-That very same day - Max pooped in the tub for the first time (and probably not the last, but hasn't happened since!)
-First two hour nap! He's consistently taking a morning nap that's longer than 30 min. What a relief...he needs his sleep just like his mama.
-Sucking his thumb - instead of trying to force his entire fist (or both fists) into his mouth, he now sucks on one or two fingers or just his thumb. It's so darn cute...but we keep trying to encourage the pacifier since we'll be able to take it away someday. He seems to like the pacifier a little bit more but can always find his thumb when he needs it. We'll see how this develops over time! He has also learned to blow raspberries with his tongue and lips...also very cute (for now).
-First Thanksgiving! We made the trip during Max's bedtime - he slept great both ways but was off schedule with naps and nighttime while there making Mommy and Daddy very tired (and a little cranky). We learned a lot about traveling and staying away from home with a little one...so we've adjusted our Christmas plans and will be flying to Rapid City then drive to Sioux Falls after Christmas for a short visit.
-First real laugh - Aunt Jessi gave him the giggles. More like quiet coughs but still cute. I'm practically standing on my head to get him to laugh here at home. Stingy with smiles for the camera still too!
Max is FOUR months old today. It's nearly Christmas and we can't wait to celebrate with our families and have Max share in the special joys that the season brings. He adds so much love...and many smiles to our life. He's becoming more and more animated, trying to talk and cooing, gooing. We are going to the doctor tomorrow so a few tears to come (shots) but we're going to see if he can try solids! Another first and more new adventures to come.
